"Follow your bliss..." A tropical desert styled bridal shoot.

I’m sitting here on a bluff surrounded by gorgeous tropical floral arrangements, cacti and a delicious wedding cake typing a blog about my day. This is my job…holy cow…THIS IS MY JOB!!

I wanted to do a styled bridal shoot that was different. Something that had “wow!” in every detail. I love love love photographing weddings. I am also a creative person. I had in mind a certain vibe so of course I called Lindsay with Deliciously Ordinary! Well oh my goodness did she deliver! We talked and went back and forth with quite a few ideas. She definitely brought me out of my comfort zone and I LOVED it!!

I had a “feel” that I was going for: desert-themed with a spring pop and lots of bright flowers over barren rock. I told Lindsay to run with and she stunned me! A collaboration between two creatives and the ability to run free with it, creates magic!! I remember sending her the location and telling her it’s way prettier in person. When we arrived today, her jaw dropped. We all explored for the first half hour because it was stunning and the location offered so much to take in.

When I contacted Emma and Brad (who are an absolutely adorable couple!) to be a part of this shoot, she immediately said yes!! I originally planned on a Sunday but the weather wasn’t cooperating, so we decided on a Monday evening. They were so sweet to come out after they got off work and we all killed it! After I told Emma the vibe, she ordered a breathtaking boho style dress paired with unique accent jewelry with turquoise. Brad rocked a classic black tuxedo. I mean you can’t go wrong with the classics!!

Simply David’s made this gorgeous two tier cake with white stucco icing. The inside was tinted a beautiful pink to coordinate with the floral arrangements. Lindsay added the final touches with touches of dragon fruit, lime, blood oranges and watermelon radishes to the cake to pull everything together.

As creatives and professionals, we get to fluff our feathers and strut our stuff when it comes to styled shoots. It gives us a unique opportunity to show the world our art and vision!

Lindsay told me about a man named Joseph Campbell, who was essentially a modern day philosopher. He said "If you follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Wherever you are — if you are following your bliss, you are enjoying that refreshment, that life within you, all the time."

“Follow your bliss” has been something Lindsay follows closely. I love this idea. To build your business around bliss, you focus on things that you are truly passionate about. It opens doors and you will feel truly alive.

Let’s all try to follow our bliss a little more and enjoy the beautiful things in life!
